With the rise in use of undercover operatives known as Specialists in the Farsight conflicts, corporations resorted to using highly-advanced lone-operators known as Assassins to locate and remove enemy specialists from play.

Whilst often simply depicted as a sniper, most Assassins used a variety of tactics - such as tracking, thermal imaging, CQC and booby traps - to track down and eliminate their prey.

Use of modern-day Assassins was allegedly developed by the Nafisa sisters, heads of the Zafar private military corporation. In the lead-up to their Tahrir Initiative, the sisters are suspected of using Assassins to eliminate key political rivals and raise political instability in the region.
