“This is the true face of fury. Our foes will flee like petrified rats from the wrath of Cerberus, the dog of war.” - Enyo, Leader of Ares
When it was determined that there would be an arms race for combat-efficient mechs, a number of designs were created, the foremost of which was the bi-pedal “kangaroo” assault mech.
Initially developed for urban warfare, but suitable for all terrain movement, assault mechs are most commonly equipped with a combination of high caliber machine guns and rocket launchers, for effective against armoured and unarmoured opponents.
Assault mechs can often be driven by a single pilot, but are often allocated 2-man crews, due to the length of deployment and risk of single points of failure in the case of a pilot death.
Assault mech crews are usually paired during training, to strengthen their bond, and allocated a single mech for which they are responsible for, both in combat and engineering. Crews often name their mech, and decorate it with the colours and iconography of their pre-war culture or corporate faction.
